Thoroughbred, it is free flowing and
loose. He has the same elegant composition, stance, head and body
as the beautiful Hunter. The Part Thoroughbred horse is a horse
well suited to carrying a rider. This horse is a cross-breed of
Thoroughbred blood with any other chosen breed, to produce the qualities
desired in the off-spring. The breeding of horses for competition
rather than military or agricultural uses, has resulted in a finer,
faster horse and has improved many breeds. This is particularly
true of the European Warmblood breeds such as Hanoverians, Holstein
and Trakehner, which now have a great deal of Thoroughbred blood
in them to provide the speed, quality and agility needed in today's
sport horse.
The Thoroughbred is still the fastest breed of horse in the world,
and can be relied upon to consistently pass their genetic traits
to their off-spring. The Thoroughbred is a Hotblooded horse, bringing
his fiery, proud, spirited temperament to the genetic mix. The resulting
Part Thoroughbred horse cross is a well balanced horse, with a bold
and spirited temperament, excellent speed, agility and stamina.
The individual horse's traits vary depending on the cross-breeding
chosen. Size of this cross-bred can vary greatly, based on the breed
crossed, ranging from 14 to 17+ hands high at the withers, but generally
averaging 16 hands. Part Thoroughbreds usually have refined features
with an arched neck, strong shoulders, deep chest, shorter strong
backs, muscular hindquarters, and strong legs.
This elegant North Light model is presented with a loose mane and
tail, and the artists have faithfully represented this refined Thoroughbred
Cross with his muscular well balanced body. Please see the Hunter
Breed Page, to see the difference between these two fine figurines.
