of this breed. The Shire horse is descended
from the Great Horses and Old English Blacks, from ancient times.
The Shire is the largest of the heavy breed horses, with stallions
standing up to 18 hands high at the withers. For all of his massive
size, he is a docile, hard-working gentle horse which is easy to
train. The quality of this breed was guaranteed by the establishment
of the Shire Horse Society in 1878. This society was first called
The Cart-Horse Society, but soon changed its name. The North Light
model is an elegant representation of this wonderful draft horse.
His muscular body is well proportioned to be breed standard. He
has a very detailed face with an alert expression and large well
positioned ears. Every detail, right down to the horse shoe on the
front raised hoof, has been attended to in the North Light Studio.
The rope halter and fabric blanket add great hand detailing and
interest to this model.
